Right fielder Honus Wagner blasted 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the Louisville
Colonels bested the Boston Beaneaters 10 to 8 at South End Grounds.

Wagner enjoyed a fine day at the plate. He smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' in
the 4th inning, smashed a two-run homer in the 5th inning and doubled plating
a run in the 6th inning. Boston threatened in the 9th but their rally came
up short.

Harry Wilhelm(3-0) allowed 8 runs in 8 innings, and picked up the victory.
Walt Woods earned his 2nd save. Mike Sullivan(0-1) was the loser. He served
up 3 homeruns in his 9 innings.

Despite losing Frank Selee was optimistic after the game. 'We'll get over
this one. Sometimes the breaks fall your way, sometimes they don't. Any one
of a dozen little things go different, and we come out on top.'
