WEB GEMS- Top 8th: Ed Abbaticchio robbed Ed Phelps of a base hit.

Jimmy Sebring had 2 base hits and 3 RBI and Sam Leever allowed Fred Clarke to
rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game at South End Grounds where the
Pittsburgh Pirates beat the pathetic Boston Beaneaters in 11 innings by the
score of 8 to 4.

The game was deadlocked at 4 after nine full innings. Pittsburgh won the hard
fought contest in the 11th inning. The key offensive moment was provided by
Sebring who deflated the spirits of the home town crowd when he slapped a
one-base hit plating two runs. Pittsburgh managed 12 hits in their victory.

The win was credited to Leever(15-11) who went the whole way allowing 4 runs.
The loss was charged to Vic Willis(6-14). He gave up 11 hits and 8 walks in
10 and 1/3 innings.
