Grady Hatton had 2 base hits at Shibe Park where the incredible
Philadelphia-AL Athletics beat the New York-AL Yankees 6 to 5.

Carl Scheib(6-5) was called upon to do the job and he was the winning pitcher.
He went 1 and 2/3 innings surrendering 1 hit and 2 walks.  New York-AL had
10 hits in the game while Philadelphia-AL had 7, but Philadelphia-AL had the
more timely hits.  

Scheib got relief help from Dutch Leonard who gained credit for his 10th save.
Bob Kuzava(5-4) was given the loss in relief.
