WEB GEMS- Top 5th: Dickey Pearce robbed Cal McVey of a base hit.

Al Spalding allowed Harry Wright to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game
and George Wright had 4 hits and 3 RBI as the St. Louis B Brown Stockings
were badly beaten by the seemingly unstoppable Boston ballclub, 20 to
5.

Wright provided the offensive punch. He ripped a single in the 4th inning,
doubled in the 5th inning, delivered a one-base hit which brought home a run
in the 7th inning and popped a two-run clout over the fence in the 9th
inning. Boston kept the scorekeepers busy in the 3rd inning when they had 6
runs on 6 hits and the 5th inning which saw them score 7 runs on 4 hits.
Boston dominated offensively as they scored in 6 different innings.

Spalding(42-9) got the victory, allowing 5 runs for the game. George
Bradley(22-15) was the losing pitcher. He was knocked around, surrendering
20 runs in 9 innings.
