Dan Casey went the distance and third baseman Joe Mulvey had 2 base hits as
the Philadelphia Quakers won a dandy at Recreation Park over the New York
Giants, 4 to 3.

Philadelphia scored the deciding run in the bottom of the 9th inning.  Charlie
Bastian ripped a single.  After an out was recorded, Casey stepped in and he
reached on an error.  George Wood then would hit into a fielders choice
resulting in an exciting win for Philadelphia and a raucous post-game
celebration by the home town fans.  Philadelphia and New York each finished
the afternoon with 8 hits.  

Casey(15-17) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 3 runs. Mickey
Welch(18-20) suffered the loss in relief.  He surrendered 1 hit and no walks
in 1/3 of an inning.
