Dave Foutz had 4 hits and 5 RBI and Tom Lovett had a complete game as the
Brooklyn Bridegrooms bested the hopeless Louisville Colonels 15 to 8 at
Eclipse Park.
Foutz led the offense for Brooklyn. He smacked a single in the 1st inning,
lined a base-hit bringing in two baserunners in the 2nd inning, doubled
scoring a run in the 3rd inning and banged out a one-base hit which plated a
run in the 7th inning. Brooklyn bats were hot in the 2nd inning scoring 4
runs and the 3rd inning which saw them plate 4 runs on 4 hits. Due to a
poorly pitched ballgame, scoring in 6 different innings was still not enough
for Louisville to come away with the victory.
The win was credited to Lovett(13-11) who went the whole way allowing 8 runs.
Red Ehret(7-15) absorbed the loss. He was not very effective, surrendering
15 runs in 9 innings.
