Jimmy McAleer had 3 base hits and 2 RBI and Henry Gruber went the distance at
League Park as the Cleveland Spiders beat the Cincinnati Reds by the count of
7 to 6.

Cleveland had the winning rally in the 8th inning plating 2 runs utilizing 3
base hits.  After two outs McAleer initiated the scoring spurt when he laced
a one-base hit.  McAleer was safe at second on a stolen base.  Cleveland
continued their aggressive style with another stolen base.  Tony Mullane then
threw a pitch that the catcher muffed resulting in a run.  John Shearon
stepped into the box and stroked a base-hit.  Cleveland got their 2nd stolen
base of the inning.  Chief Zimmer was next and he ripped a one-base hit
scoring the final run of the inning.  Cleveland finished with 10 hits in the
victory.  

The winning pitcher was Gruber(14-14) who allowed 6 runs for the game. The
losing pitcher was Mullane(17-18).  Wth the win Cleveland now has a record of
55-43.  Cincinnati has a record of 40-57 after the loss.
