WEB GEMS- Top 5th: Tuck Turner robbed Jimmy Bannon of an extra base hit.

Jack Taylor was able to finish what he started and was credited with a
complete game and Sam Thompson had 4 hits and 4 RBI at Baker Bowl as the
Philadelphia Phillies beat the slumping Boston Beaneaters in 11 innings by
the count of 14 to 13.

The score was knotted at 11 after nine innings. Philadelphia came out the
victor in the 11th inning. Mike Grady kicked off the action when he drew a
walk. Billy Hamilton came next and he stroked a base-hit. Ed Delahanty then
doubled resulting in a run. Lave Cross came up and he lined a single giving
Philadelphia the victory and sending the 10,693 home-town fans home happy. A
wild affair, this game saw the lead change 5 times.

Taylor(15-11) was the winner allowing 13 runs for the game. The losing pitcher
was Kid Nichols(17-10). He allowed a few too many baserunners giving up 16
hits and 4 walks in 10 innings.

'I just wanted to give my team a chance to win.' said Taylor, 'I got burned on
a couple of pitches. But we won the game, and that's all that matters.'
