Chief Zimmer smashed 2 homeruns and had 6 RBI and Nig Cuppy went 9 solid
innings as the Cleveland Spiders crushed the floundering Washington Senators
22 to 0.

Zimmer was unconscious all day. The Washington fans hated to see him
approaching the batter's box as he just kept delivering base hits! He doubled
bringing in two baserunners in the 3rd inning, clubbed a two-run home run in
the 4th inning, popped a two-run clout over the fence in the 6th inning and
ripped a base-hit in the 7th inning. Cleveland bats were very productive in
the 3rd inning which saw them plate 4 runs on 5 hits, the 4th inning with 4
runs on 3 hits and the 6th inning with 7 runs on 7 hits. Offensively,
Cleveland was a juggernaut. They scored in 6 separate innings.

It was the 3rd shutout of the year for Cuppy(18-8). Les German(3-14) was the
losing pitcher. He served up 3 homeruns in his 8 and 2/3 innings.

Gus Schmelz was obviously impressed with the pitching of Cuppy, 'That guy made
us look a little silly out there this afternoon. We just couldn't get to him
at all - everything was working for him. I just hope that he got that kinda
performance out of his system.'
