Allie Reynolds came through with a solid 8 innings and Bobby Thomson slammed a
homerun and had 3 RBI as the Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Washington
Nationals by the score of 8 to 1 at Forbes Field.

The Pittsburgh fans enjoyed the offense provided by Thomson.  He lined a
single bringing home two baserunners in the 1st inning, cracked a solo
homerun in the 3rd inning and ripped a base-knock in the 8th inning.
Pittsburgh had 14 hits overall, while Washington had 6.  

The win was credited to Reynolds(13-4) who went 8 innings allowing 1 run.
Murry Dickson(4-9) was the losing pitcher.  He was unable to control the
Pittsburgh offense and allowed 14 hits and 2 walks in 7 and 2/3 innings.
