The deciding run was scored by Boston in the 9th. Charlie Ganzel reached on an error. Pop Smith followed and he reached on an error. Jack Sharrott then threw one that got by the catcher for a passed ball. Lou Hardie followed, but he was set down on strikes. Herman Long came to the plate and reached on an error making Boston the victors to the delight of the home town faithful. Despite scoring in 6 separate innings, New York could not get the win. Clarkson(14-15) got the victory, allowing 12 runs for the game. Sharrott(6-4) absorbed the loss in relief. He was pinned with the loss despite not allowing an earned run in his 1 and 1/3 innings of work. 'I had a little blister on my index finger before the game, but I thought it was nothing.' Clarkson said. 'I was lucky I got a win because I couldn't put the ball where I wanted it.'
