Mike Smith slammed 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI and Frank Killen was able to
finish what he started and was credited with a complete game as the Pittsburg
Pirates defeated the Brooklyn Bridegrooms in 11 innings by a score of 7 to 5
at Eastern Park.

The score was tied at 5 after nine.  Finally, Pittsburg pulled the game out in
the 11th inning.  After an out was recorded, Joe Sugden began the rally when
he reached on an error.  Smith stepped up next and he cleared the fences for
a two-run home run.  Pittsburg managed 14 hits in their victory.  

The win went to Killen(24-13) who allowed 5 runs in the game. Brickyard
Kennedy(13-15) was the losing pitcher.  He got hit hard, allowing 14 hits and
2 walks in 11 innings.  

Smith was in a good mood after the game, 'I'm just seeing and hitting the ball
real well now.  I made some adjustments last week and they are paying off.
That's what this game is about. making adjustments as the season goes along.'
