The Cincinnati Reds nipped the dreadful Boston Braves 6 to 5 at Redland Field
in a hard fought contest.
Cincinnati scored the deciding run in the bottom of the 8th inning. Tommy
Clarke drew a walk. Clarke was safe on a stolen base. After an out was
recorded, Bob Bescher then banged out a single. Bill McTigue then let loose
a wild pitch scoring the run. Boston made it exciting in the 9th, but they
were unable to push the needed runs across.
The win was credited to Dixie Davis(2-0) who went 1 and 2/3 innings allowing
no runs. The losing pitcher was McTigue(3-6) in relief.
