WEB GEMS- Bot 8th: Miller Huggins robbed Herbie Moran of a base hit.

Lee Magee had 3 base hits and Slim Sallee completed the game without help from
the bullpen as the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Brooklyn Superbas 6 to 1
at Ebbets Field.

St. Louis jumped on top of Brooklyn in the 3rd inning with 2 runs on 2 base
hits. Miller Huggins kicked off the action when he reached on an error.
After an out was recorded, Magee came to the plate and ripped a one-base hit.
Mike Mowrey then laced a base-knock resulting in a run. Ed Konetchy came up
and he hit a sacrifice fly scoring the final run of the inning. That early
scoring was all that Sallee(13-10) needed. St. Louis had a total of 10 hits
for the game.

Earl Yingling(3-7) ended up with the loss. He was a hard-luck loser, pitching
7 and 2/3 innings and not allowing an earned run.
