WEB GEMS- Top 5th: Ed Delahanty robbed Nig Cuppy of a base hit.

Center fielder Jimmy McAleer hit 3 doubles and had 5 RBI and Nig Cuppy had a
complete game as the Cleveland Spiders clobbered the outmatched Philadelphia
Phillies, 16 to 6.

McAleer had a big day against Philadelphia. He doubled which was good for two
runs in the 1st inning, doubled in the 3rd inning and doubled with all three
baserunners touching home in the 9th inning. Cleveland lit up the scoreboard
in the 9th inning which saw them plate 9 runs on 9 hits. Cleveland simply
wore out the Philadelphia pitching staff, scoring in 6 different innings.

The victory went to Cuppy(10-12) who went the distance allowing 6 runs. Kid
Carsey(12-11) suffered the loss. He was hit hard and gave up 15 hits and 7
walks in 8 innings.

Patsy Tebeau was just happy to get a win, 'We've had such a bad streak of
games -- boy, it's great to get the monkey off our back. Now maybe we can
relax a little and play the kind of baseball of which we are capable.'
