Billy Rhines allowed Buck Ewing to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game
at Baker Bowl where the Cincinnati Reds beat the Philadelphia Phillies 7 to
4.

Philadelphia found themselves trailing quickly as the Cincinnati bats came
through in the first inning scoring 3 runs on 2 hits.  Dummy Hoy led off the
inning for Cincinnati when he reached on an error.  Tommy Corcoran came next
and he doubled.  Jake Beckley then rifled a three-run blast.  Cincinnati
managed 12 hits in their victory.  

Rhines(18-7) got the victory, allowing 4 runs for the game. Al Orth(14-15) was
hit with the loss.  He allowed 12 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings.
