Jimmy Sheckard had 5 hits and 2 RBI and Christy Mathewson was able to finish
what he started and was credited with a complete game at Palace Of The Fans
where the Cincinnati Reds beat the Philadelphia-AL Athletics 7 to
3.

Cincinnati scored the decisive runs in a big 8th inning as they scored 5 runs
on 7 base hits.  The key offensive moment was provided by Sheckard who
brought the crowd to their feet when he doubled bringing in two baserunners.
Cincinnati totaled 19 hits on the afternoon.  

The win was credited to Mathewson(18-13) who went the whole way allowing 3
runs. Jock Menefee(3-6) suffered the loss in relief.  By surrending 4 runs in
2/3 of an inning his ERA jumped from 2.53 to 2.96.  

With the win, Cincinnati continued their winning ways; their streak now stands
at 6 games and counting.
