Jake Beckley left the yard and had 3 RBI and Doc White came through with a
solid 8 innings as the Philadelphia-AL Athletics topped the Pittsburgh
Pirates by a score of 4 to 3 at Exposition Park.

White(13-9) gave Philadelphia-AL a solid outing. He surrendered only 4 hits
and no walks in 8 innings. Pittsburgh threatened in the 9th but
Philadelphia-AL was able to put down the rally.

White got help from Roy Patterson who earned his 15th save. The loss was
charged to Sam Leever(10-6). Allan Kaufman was reflective after the loss,
'We should have won this one, we just made one too many mistakes.
Son-of-a-gun, that added a couple more white hairs on this noggin of mine.'
