Danny Hoffman hit a homerun as the St. Louis Browns outscored the Boston Red
Sox 11 to 7.
St. Louis came up with 7 runs in the bottom of the 5th inning when they had 6
base hits. The key at-bat was by Jim Stephens who thrilled the crowd when he
lined a single bringing in two baserunners. Due to a poorly pitched
ballgame, scoring in 5 different innings was still not enough for Boston to
come away with the victory.
Rube Waddell(12-13) got the win allowing 7 runs in 7 and 1/3 innings. Harry
Howell recorded the save, his 7th. Frank Arellanes(16-8) was the loser. He
got hammered, allowing 11 hits and 2 walks in 6 and 2/3 innings.
