Cincinnati erupted with the game winning runs in the bottom of the 9th inning scoring 2 runs on 2 base hits. Steve Yerkes led off and keyed the rally when he drew a walk. Joe Tinker came next and he laid down a sacrifice bunt. Bill Carrigan then stroked a one-base hit. Hal Chase followed and he reached on an error which plated a run. After another out, Luderus came to the plate and doubled giving Cincinnati the win as 6,019 happy fans joyfully celebrated. Even though they scored in 5 different innings, Boston-AL was not able to pull off the win. Mordecai Brown(6-13) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 1 inning. Chief Bender(10-9) was the losing pitcher in relief. He was a hard-luck loser, pitching 1 and 1/3 innings and not allowing an earned run. 'What a win!', Brown said. 'These are the kind of games that stand out in your mind at the end of a season.'
