The St. Louis Cardinals toppled the Pittsburgh Pirates by a 11 to 7 score at
Forbes Field.
St. Louis started with a bang, jumping out to an early lead in their half of
the first when they came up with 3 runs on 3 hits. St. Louis finished with
18 hits while Pittsburgh ended up with 12.
The victory went to Larry Jansen(9-16) who went 7 and 1/3 innings, allowing 5
runs. Bob Porterfield preserved the game for Jansen, recording his his 2nd
save. Al Brazle(2-10) was the loser. He allowed St. Louis 7 runs in 3
innings of work.
