At Shibe Park, the Philadelphia-NL faithful were treated to an intriguing
pitcher's duel.  Vern Bickford(7-10) finally bested his Philadelphia-NL
counterpart, Billy Loes(4-6), by the score of 2 to 0.

Philadelphia-AL claimed the early lead in the first inning scoring 2 runners
on 2 hits.  That was all the offense they were to need.  After the 1st
inning, neither team was able to score.  

Fritz Dorish gained credit for his 28th save.  Loes was given the loss.  He
allowed 2 runs and 4 hits in 6 innings.
