At Yankee Stadium the New York-AL Yankees easily handled the Pittsburgh
Pirates by the score of 6 to 2.

New York-AL took the lead for good in the bottom of the 6th inning when they
tallied 2 runs on 2 hits.  The highlight belonged to Eddie Robinson who
brought the crowd to their feet when he smashed a two-run homer.  New York-AL
totaled 12 hits on the afternoon.  

The winning pitcher was Virgil Trucks(5-3) who allowed 2 runs in 7 and 2/3
innings. Trucks was helped out by Carl Erskine who recorded his 1st save.
Vinegar Bend Mizell(7-8) was tagged with the loss.  He pitched 6 innings
allowing 7 hits and 2 walks.
