Marion Fricano allowed Robert Baker to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete
game and left fielder Minnie Minoso jacked one out of the ballyard and had 5
RBI at Connie Mack Stadium as the New York-AL Yankees beat the
Philadelphia-AL Athletics by the count of 11 to 2.
Minoso provided much of the offense. He cracked a two-run shot in the 3rd
inning, doubled scoring two baserunners in the 5th inning and singled in the
7th inning. New York-AL simply wore out the Philadelphia-AL pitching staff,
scoring in 6 different innings.
The victory was credited to Fricano(6-11) who went the distance, allowing 2
runs. Bob Lemon(14-12) was the losing pitcher. He allowed 13 hits and 7
walks in 8 and 2/3 innings.
