Shortstop Ernie Banks smashed 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the very potent
Chicago-NL Cubs topped the Brooklyn Dodgers in 11 innings by a score of 10 to
9 at Ebbets Field.

Both teams were tied at 9 runs apiece after nine innings.  Chicago-NL won the
game in the 11th inning.  Banks tripled.  One out later, Duke Snider got his
chance to keep things going, but he went down on strikes.  Carl Furillo then
doubled scoring the run.  Chicago-NL had 16 hits for the game and Brooklyn
had 12.  

Dixie Howell(4-3) was the winner allowing 3 runs in 5 innings. Clem
Labine(2-3) was hit with the loss in relief.
