John Pickett connected with a 'big fly' and had 2 RBI as the Philadelphia
Athletics won in dramatic fashion over the Chicago Pirates by a score of 14
to 13 at Forepaugh Park.

Philadelphia won the game with a rally in the bottom of the 9th inning scoring
2 runs. Jocko Milligan led off and keyed the rally when he drew a walk.
Lave Cross stepped up to the plate and he laid down a sacrifice bunt. Mike
Griffin then reached on an error scoring a run. Billy Shindle followed and
he ripped a base-hit making Philadelphia the victors to the delight of the
home town faithful. Due to a poorly pitched ballgame, scoring in 6 different
innings was still not enough for Chicago to come away with the victory.

Ben Sanders(19-12) finished the game allowing 13 runs in the victory. The
losing pitcher was Charlie Bartson(5-13). He was touched for 15 hits and 4
walks in 8 and 1/3 innings.

'What a game!,' Sanders said afterward. 'When we won it I almost couldn't
believe it!'
