5,938 fans were treated to a fine game at Redland Field as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end.  The Cincinnati Reds won by the
slimmest of margins, 2 to 1.

Both teams had scored 1 runs after nine full innings.  Cincinnati came out on
top in the 13th inning.  Gus Williams lined a single.  Williams then stole
second base.  Nap Lajoie then singled giving Cincinnati the victory as 5,938
happy fans celebrated wildly.  Cincinnati won despite being out-hit by
Washington 11 hits to 7.  

Buster Brown(6-6) allowed no runs in 1 inning, and picked up the victory.
Smoky Joe Wood(19-9) was the loser.  He pitched 12 innings giving up only 7
hits and 2 walks.
