First baseman Vic Saier blasted 2 homeruns and had 6 RBI at Ebbets Field where
the Brooklyn Dodgers beat the league door-mat Detroit Tigers 12 to 3.

Saier was spectacular at the plate. He delivered a solo blast in the 2nd
inning, cleared the fences for a two-run home run in the 3rd inning, lined a
base-hit scoring a run in the 5th inning, tripled which scored a run in the
6th inning and slapped a one-base hit which plated a run in the 8th inning.
Brooklyn finished with 16 hits while Detroit ended up with 9.

Christy Mathewson(17-11) picked up the victory, allowing 2 runs in 7 and 2/3
innings. Pat Ragan(7-10) suffered the loss. He was knocked around by
Brooklyn, allowing 13 hits and 4 walks in 7 innings.

'I was in my hotel room the other night, working on my swing and made some
adjustments,' Saier said. 'I'm always working on it. If they are getting you
out certain ways, you've got to make changes.'
