The St. Louis Browns edged the Boston Red Sox in 11 innings at Sportsman's
Park by the score of 9 to 8.
The score was tied at 8 after nine. St. Louis was victorious in the 11th
inning. After an out was recorded, John Leary reached on an error. Howard
swiped second base. Doc Lavan then smacked a single. Ray Collins then was
wild with a pitch resulting in an exciting win for St. Louis and a raucous
post-game celebration by the home town fans. Both teams ended up with 14
hits on the afternoon.
Ernie Koob(7-6) went 1 and 1/3 innings allowing no runs for the victory.
Collins(5-5) was tagged with the loss in relief. He allowed 4 runs and 6
hits in 4 and 2/3 innings.
