In a dramatic ending the Chicago-NL Cubs staged a comeback and held on to win
over the Pittsburgh Pirates by the count of 4 to 3.

Chicago-NL won the game with a rally in the 9th inning plating 3 runs on 4
base hits. Whitey Lockman started the scoring when he delivered a solo
blast. After an out was recorded, Bob Ramazzotti stepped up to the plate and
he lined a one-base hit. Pee Wee Reese then slapped a base-hit. Ferris Fain
stepped in and he tripled as two more runners crossed the plate. Chicago-NL
had 7 hits for the night.

Vic Raschi(12-6) went 8 innings allowing 2 runs for the victory. Raschi got
help from Willie Ramsdell who earned his 14th save. Ellis Kinder(5-7) was
the losing pitcher in relief.

Kinder was feeling apologetic in the locker room, 'I sure let that one get
away. What a miserable feeling to let the guys down; and our fans. One
minute things are looking great, then. BOOM, it's over with! I just hope I
get a chance to redeem myself real soon!'
