Monte Ward delivered 9 solid innings as the Providence Grays(P) ballclub
embarrassed the Indianapolis Blues by the count of 13 to 2.
Providence set the tone of the game in the first inning plating 2 runs using 3
hits. Dick Higham led off the inning for Providence when he doubled. After
another out, Lew Brown dug into the batters box next, but he struck out.
Paul Hines then doubled driving in a run. Tom Carey followed and he doubled
scoring the final run of the inning. Providence kept the pressure on
throughout the contest as they scored in 6 different innings.
Ward(13-8) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 2 runs. Tom
Healey(1-6) was the losing pitcher. He allowed Providence 13 runs in 9
