WEB GEMS- Top 6th: Bill Mountjoy robbed John Cahill of a base hit.

Center fielder Buck West had 4 hits and scored 4 times and Bill Mountjoy
allowed Cincinnati's manager to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game at
League Park as the Cincinnati Red Stockings beat the Columbus Buckeyes by the
count of 15 to 6.

West had a big day at the plate. He tripled plating a run in the 1st inning,
tripled in the 2nd inning, tripled in the 4th inning and lashed a single in
the 5th inning. Cincinnati bats were very productive in the 1st inning when
they had 5 runs on 4 hits. The Cincinnati offense man-handled the Columbus
pitching staff as they scored in 7 of the 9 innings.

The win went to Mountjoy(12-10) who allowed 6 runs in the game. Ed Dundon(0-5)
was charged with the loss. He was not very effective, surrendering 15 runs
in 8 innings.
