Henry Gruber was able to finish what he started and was credited with a
complete game as the strong Detroit Wolverines defeated the Washington
Nationals in 10 innings 4 to 3 at Swampoodle Grounds.
Both teams were tied at 3 runs apiece after nine innings. Detroit was
victorious in the 10th inning. Dan Brouthers reached on an error. Jack Rowe
next to the plate and he reached on an error. Two outs later Larry Twitchell
came to bat and reached on an error. Charlie Bennett followed next and he
drew a walk scoring the run. Detroit had just 5 hits for the afternoon.
Gruber(5-1) got the victory, allowing 3 runs for the game. Hank O'Day(6-12)
was tagged with the loss in relief. He was pinned with the loss despite not
