Sam Thompson blasted 3 homeruns and had 8 RBI as the Philadelphia Phillies
outscored the Pittsburg Pirates 15 to 11.

Thompson really 'lit it up' for Philadelphia. He lofted a three-run bomb in
the 1st inning, smashed a two-run homer in the 4th inning and rifled a
three-run blast in the 7th inning. Philadelphia bats were hot in the 1st
inning when they had 4 runs on 4 hits. Philadelphia kept the pressure on
throughout the contest as they scored in 6 different innings.

Kid Carsey(13-11) was the winner allowing 11 runs in 8 and 2/3 innings. Red
Ehret(15-13) was the losing pitcher. He served up 3 homeruns in his 8
innings.

'I felt great out there today,' Thompson said, 'Maybe I should make a regular
habit of getting to bed on time!'
