George Treadway knocked 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI as the Brooklyn Grooms topped
the struggling St. Louis Browns in 13 innings by a score of 12 to 11 at
Eastern Park.
The score was knotted at 11 after nine innings. Finally, Brooklyn pulled the
game out in the 13th inning. Candy Lachance drew a walk. Lachance was safe
at second on a stolen base. Bert Abbey then drew a walk. John Grim was up
next and he laid down a sacrifice bunt. Mike Griffin came up to bat and
slapped a base-hit making Brooklyn the victors to the delight of the home
town faithful. The score went back-and-forth with the lead changing 8 times.
Abbey(6-1) got the win allowing no runs in 4 innings. Bill Kissinger(6-7) was
charged with the loss in relief. He allowed a few too many baserunners
giving up 8 hits and 4 walks in 4 and 1/3 innings.
