TEAM RISP- White Sox: 10 for 16 Orioles: 7 for 20

With the crowd on their collective feet, screaming at the top of their lungs,
mighty Baltimore Orioles rallied to top Chicago White Sox by the score of 16
to 15.

Baltimore scored the winning runs in the bottom of the 9th inning scoring 5
runners on 4 hits. Baltimore bats were very productive in the 3rd inning
tallying 5 runs, the 6th inning scoring 5 runs and the 9th inning which saw
them score 5 runs on 4 hits. Chicago was not lacking for run support as they
scored in 7 separate innings, yet victory eluded them as they seemed to
forget that pitching is also needed to win ballgames.

The win went to Bill Karns(2-0) who allowed no runs in 1 and 2/3 innings.
Clark Griffith(22-7) was the losing pitcher in relief. He was knocked
around, surrendering 6 runs in 3 and 1/3 innings.

John McGraw was ebullient after the game, 'It's great to win a hard fought
game like that. Our guys just weren't going to be denied. And did you see
the fans - they were going wild! Yes sir, a very enjoyable win this
afternoon!'
