6,643 fans watched an exciting game at Cleveland Stadium.  The Cleveland
Indians topped the Brooklyn Dodgers by the slimmest of margins, 5 to 4.

In the bottom of the 7th inning Cleveland scored 4 runs with the help of 4
hits.  The biggest moment was provided by Dick Gernert who made the Cleveland
fans a happy lot when he bombed a two-run dinger.  Brooklyn proved to be no
trouble in the 9th.  

Mike Fornieles(5-4) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 1/3 of an
inning. Hoyt Wilhelm preserved the game for Fornieles, recording his his 22nd
save.  Clem Labine(8-10) ended up with the loss in relief.  

Wth the win Cleveland now has a record of 54-57.  With this loss, Brooklyn has
a 5-5 record of late, 54-65 overall.
