Cy Young went the distance as the Cleveland Spiders bested the Boston
Beaneaters 9 to 5 at South End Grounds.

Boston was unable to climb back into it after Cleveland went ahead for good in
the top of the 3rd inning plating one baserunner using 3 hits.  Buck Ewing
doubled.  Ewing proceeded to steal third base.  Cupid Childs then stroked a
base-hit scoring the run.  Cleveland had a total of 16 hits for the game.

Young(26-9) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 5 runs. Hank
Gastright(6-9) was the loser.  He gave up 9 runs in 9 innings and saw his ERA
jump from 3.57 to 3.92.
