Third baseman Tommy Leach blasted 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI and Ed Doheny
pitched a complete game as the sizzling Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the
Philadelphia Phillies by the score of 7 to 3 at Baker Bowl.

Leach was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine day at
their team's expense. He smashed a two-run homer in the 1st inning, banged
out a single in the 3rd inning and smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' in the 7th
inning. Pittsburgh had a total of 14 hits for the game.

The win was credited to Doheny(12-10) who went the whole way allowing 3 runs.
Bill Duggleby(11-13) ended up with the loss. He pitched 9 innings allowing
14 hits and 1 walk.
