At West Side Park the Chicago-NL Cubs easily handled the hapless
Philadelphia-AL Athletics by the score of 5 to 1.

Philadelphia-AL never recovered after Chicago-NL took the lead in the 3rd
inning scoring a single run on 2 base hits.  Chicago-NL managed 9 hits in
their victory.  

Jimmy Dygert(9-4) picked up the victory, allowing 1 run in 8 and 2/3 innings.
Dygert was helped out by Slow Joe Doyle who recorded his 4th save.  The
losing pitcher was Johnny Lush(6-17).  He pitched 7 innings allowing 7 hits
and 2 walks.
