Joss(17-7) was indeed brilliant as he hand-cuffed the Cincinnati offense. He didn't allow much, just 1 hit and 1 walk in 9 innings. The right-handed Joss lost a no-hitter when Dave Brain doubled with two outs in the 9th inning. St. Louis-AL finished with 7 hits in the victory. Lew Moren(6-6) took the loss. He pitched 9 innings and surrendered 7 hits and 3 walks. 'Joss gave us exactly what we needed today.' Tim Singer said. 'When he threw the fastball he threw it for strikes. They were really fooled by his change. Most of the time he had them chasing it.'
