Eddie Plank pitched 9 strong innings at West Side Park as the Chicago-NL Cubs
beat the Boston-AL Red Sox by the count of 6 to 0.

Chicago-NL claimed the early lead in the first inning plating an isolated run
on 2 base hits. That early run support was enough for Plank(5-15) and
Chicago-NL. Chicago-NL managed 9 hits in their victory.

Boardwalk Brown(6-8) was the loser. Roy Purcell was obviously impressed with
the pitching of Plank, 'That guy made us look a little silly out there this
afternoon. We just couldn't get to him at all - everything was working for
him. I just hope that he got that kinda performance out of his system.'
