Ralph Kiner smashed 2 homeruns and had 6 RBI and Sal Maglie tossed a complete
game at Griffith Stadium as the New York-AL Yankees beat the Washington
Nationals by the count of 11 to 5.

Kiner was a source of great heartache for the Washington faithful all day. He
just kept pounding out hits! He clubbed a two-run home run in the 4th inning,
doubled plating two runs in the 5th inning and popped a two-run clout over
the fence in the 7th inning. New York-AL kept the pressure on throughout the
contest as they scored in 6 different innings.

Maglie(4-6) was the winner allowing 5 runs for the game. Murry Dickson(4-10)
was given the loss. He was knocked around by New York-AL, allowing 9 hits
and 2 walks in 6 innings.

New York-AL now has a record of 58-50. With the loss, the Washington
ballclub's record is 44-68.
