The Kansas City Athletics came roaring back in the top of the ninth to spoil
the anticipated celebration of the hometown fans.  The final score,, was 8 to
3.

Kansas City won the game with an offensive outburst in the top of the 9th
inning as they showed no mercy on Pittsburgh blasting them for 5 hits and
plating 7 runs.  The highlight belonged to Johnny Logan who quieted the crowd
when he doubled bringing in two baserunners.  Kansas City banged out 12 hits
on the afternoon.  

The winning pitcher was Frank Lary(13-10) who allowed no runs in 1/3 of an
inning. Jack Harshman(8-11) was the loser in relief.  He pitched 1 inning
giving up 5 hits and 4 walks.
