Deacon Phillippe allowed Fred Clarke to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete
game and he had 2 base hits at League Park where the Pittsburg Pirates beat
the Cincinnati Reds 5 to 4.

Pittsburg jumped on top of Cincinnati in the top of the 7th inning as they
scored 2 runs on 2 base hits.  Cincinnati threatened in the 9th but their
rally came up short.  

The winning pitcher was Phillippe(14-7) who allowed 4 runs for the game.
