Sammy Strang had 5 hits and Cy Young pitched a complete game at Columbia Park
as the Philadelphia-AL Athletics beat the New York-NL Giants in 12 innings by
the count of 7 to 6.

Both teams had scored 6 runs after nine full innings. Philadelphia-AL came out
on top in the 12th inning.  Jimmy Collins lined a base-hit.  Bill Keister was
next and he ripped a base-knock.  Jimmy Sebring then stroked a single, and an
error was also committed, resulting in an exciting win for Philadelphia-AL
and a raucous post-game celebration by the home town fans.  Philadelphia-AL
lit up the scoreboard in the 9th inning when they had 4 runs on 5 hits.
Philadelphia-AL had 20 hits for the afternoon.  

Young(19-8), allowing 6 runs for the game, picked up the victory. Alex
Pearson(1-1) suffered the loss in relief.  It was a tough loss for him as he
did not allow an earned run in his 1 inning of work.
