At Griffith Stadium the Washington Nationals were battered 10 to 4 by the St.
Louis Browns.

St. Louis drew first blood jumping out to an early lead in the first inning
scoring a single run utilizing 2 base hits.  Burt Shotton delivered a
base-hit.  Shotton swiped second base.  Pete Compton then stroked a one-base
hit.  Gus Williams stepped in and he hit a deep fly scoring the run.  For the
game St. Louis out-hit Washington 12 to 6.  

The victory went to Mack Allison(4-8) who went 8 and 2/3 innings, allowing 4
runs. Bob Groom(18-7) was charged with the loss.  He was hit hard and gave up
12 hits and 5 walks in 9 innings.
