Detroit Tigers by a score of 8 to 5 at Navin Field.
Detroit fell behind quickly as the Cincinnati offense came through in the
first inning when they came up with 3 runs on 5 hits. The Detroit bats were
silent in the bottom of the 9th.
The win was credited to Russell(14-3) who went the whole way allowing 5 runs.
Wilbur Cooper(3-5) took the loss. He got hammered, allowing 11 hits and 4
