The mighty Cleveland Indians got by the slumping New York Yankees at Yankee
Stadium. The final score was 7 to 5.
Cleveland had the game winning rally in the 8th inning when they tallied 4
runs on 2 hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by Roy Campanella who
quieted the home crowd when he laced a base-hit plating two runs. New York
had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.
Fred Martin(3-2) went 2 innings allowing no runs for the win. Martin got help
from Gerry Staley who earned his 7th save. Ken Heintzelman(9-11) was the
loser.
