WEB GEMS- Top 9th: Jerry Priddy robbed Billy Goodman of a base hit.

Right fielder Carl Furillo lofted one into the 'cheap seats' and had 2 RBI as
the Chicago-NL Cubs defeated the slumping New York-AL Yankees by a score of 6
to 5 at Wrigley Field.

Chicago-NL scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning when they had 4 base
hits. The key at-bat was by Pee Wee Reese who brought a roar from the
partisan Wrigley Field fans when he ripped a one-base hit scoring two
baserunners. Chicago-NL took care of New York-AL with no trouble in the 9th.

The win went to Vic Raschi(7-13) who allowed 5 runs in 6 and 1/3 innings.
Howie Judson earned his 12th save. Tommy Byrne(5-5) took the loss. With
this win, Chicago-NL has a 60-65 record. They have been 5-5 lately. Not
able to get much going in recent weeks, New York-AL is 1-9 of late and now
has an overall record of 37-72, worst in the league.
